The MSC Spring YDL Soccer Session has started. The first game is Saturday, January 30th at Hohokam Park (south side, field #6).
MSC United established a developmental league in the fall of 2005. This league targets younger players of the 4-14 year old range. The league will run for approximately two months in both the fall and spring.
This league is built around developing fundamental skills to help the player learn the basics in a way that will allow them to progress at a much faster rate. We play small sided games of 3 v 3, 4 v 4 and 5 v 5 (or 6 v 6) to promote lots of touches on the ball and to give everyone a chance to be involved in the game more. Coach Cruz or possibly another coach will provide training once a week to every player in the league based on the schedule listed here. Each team coach sets up a separate practice on another day for his or her team.
MSC training by Coach Cruz (or possibly other MSC United coaches) will be held from 4:15-5:15PM, Monday through Thursday (possibly Fridays depending on the numbers) at Harmony Park in Mesa. The coaches will train each team once a week (we anticipate several teams being trained at a time).
The training concept is to provide specific syllabus instruction once a week to each player by Coach David Cruz. Emphasis will be on dribbling and shooting technique. Teams will be scheduled in on a specific day to train each week with one of the professional coaches from MSC United. A volunteer coach will be assigned to help the team and will assist at the training session. The volunteer coach will train the team on another day of the week and will coach the team on Saturdays. There should be an assistant to the volunteer coach as well. Coach Cruz will provide additional coaching sessions to the volunteer coaches prior to the first season games. There will be approximately 8-9 weeks of training throughout this program.
